In the First Reading, we encounter Peter standing before the people, lifting up his voice with courage to proclaim Jesus as the Christ. This is the same Peter who, few days earlier, had denied even knowing Jesus. The contrast is striking. What has changed? It is the Resurrection. Peter’s transformation is not rooted in his own strength or moral resolve, but in an encounter with the living Christ. The shame of denial could have silenced him forever. Instead, the risen Jesus meets Peter with mercy, restores him with love, and fills him with the fire of the Holy Spirit. Fear gives way to boldness, failure to forgiveness, silence to proclamation. Peter’s voice now becomes a living witness to hope. His story assures us that our past does not define us; the Resurrection does.

The Gospel offers another glimpse of transformation, this time through the women who visit the tomb. They arrive burdened with grief and uncertainty. Fear grips them when they encounter the angelic message. The news of the Resurrection transforms their fear into great joy. They run—not away from the tomb, but toward the disciples, eager to share what they have seen and heard. Joy propels them into mission. Their encounter with the Risen Lord changes everything.

These readings speak directly to our own lives. Like Peter, we too have moments of denial—times when fear, or doubt keep us from standing for Christ. Like the women, we often carry worries and anxieties that weigh heavily on our hearts. Yet Easter reminds us that transformation is possible. The Risen Lord meets us where we are and invites us into new life. The psalmist beautifully captures this invitation: to take refuge in the Lord. In the joy of the Resurrection, we are called to trust, to surrender, and to allow God to transform our fear into faith and our sorrow into joy. Easter Monday is a call to live transformed lives, rooted in the hope that flows from the Risen Christ.

Response: Preserve me, O God, for in you I take refuge.

Copyright ©2026 ©Springs of Living Water http://springs.carmelmedia.in

MONDAY, EASTER OCTAVE Acts 2:14, 22-33 Ps 16: 1-2, 5, 7-11 Mt 28: 8 – 15 JOY OF THE RESURRECTION Easter Monday places before us the story of transformation that unfolds in the lives of ordinary people touched by the Risen Lord.
