THE WISDOM OF THE CROSS

Today’s reading reminds us that God’s ways are often very different from the ways of the world. People usually admire strength, success, intelligence, and achievements. They look for things that appear impressive and powerful. Yet God chose to save the world through the Cross, something that seemed weak and foolish in human eyes. The message of the Cross teaches us that true greatness is found in humble love and self-giving sacrifice. Jesus did not conquer by force. He conquered, by loving completely, even when that love led Him to suffering. Many could not understand this. Even today, some people find it difficult to accept that forgiveness is stronger than revenge, humility greater than pride, and love more powerful than hatred. There are moments in our own lives when we feel weak, misunderstood, or burdened by struggles. We may wonder why God allows difficulties to come our way. The Cross reminds us that God is present even in those painful moments. What seems like failure can become a source of grace. What appears to be a loss can become a blessing in God’s hands.

Saint Augustine spent much of his life searching for truth and wisdom. In the end, he discovered that true wisdom is found in Christ. The closer he came to God, the more he understood that human knowledge alone cannot satisfy the deepest desires of the heart. Today, we are invited to trust God even when His plans do not make sense to us. Instead of relying only on our own understanding, let us open our hearts to His wisdom. The Cross teaches us that God can bring hope out of despair, strength out of weakness, and life out of death.

May we never be ashamed of the Cross. May we see in it the greatest sign of God’s love for us, may we learn to carry our own crosses with faith, knowing that God is working through them to shape us into the people He wants us to be. May the Lord Jesus help us to trust in His wisdom when we cannot understand His ways. May I learn to find strength in His Cross

Response: The Lord’s merciful love fills the earth.
