FRIDAY, TWENTY FOURTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME
1 Cor 15: 12-20 Ps 17: 1, 6-8 and 15 Lk 8: 1-3
HOPE: A WAY OF LIFE
Today’s readings invite us to reflect on one life-changing truth: our faith is rooted not in an idea, but in the living Christ. St. Paul tells the Corinthians, “If Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile.” The Resurrection is not simply the happy ending of the Gospel; it is the very foundation of our hope. Because Christ lives, our struggles, sacrifices, and even our suffering are never meaningless. We see this hope reflected beautifully in the Gospel. Jesus travels from town to town proclaiming the Kingdom of God, and alongside Him are women like Mary Magdalene, Joanna, and Susanna. They quietly support His mission with their resources. They may not have preached to crowds, but their hidden service became part of God’s saving plan. It reminds us that every act of generosity done for Christ has eternal value.
We live in a world fascinated by instant success and social media recognition. A trending story may dominate headlines today and disappear tomorrow. Yet the quiet acts of kindness by ordinary people—a young volunteer helping flood victims, a family feeding the poor, or a nurse caring for patients with compassion—often leave a deeper and lasting impact. God’s Kingdom grows not only through spectacular miracles but also through faithful, unnoticed service.
Pope Francis has reminded us, “Hope is bold; it knows how to look beyond personal comfort.” Likewise, Pope St. John Paul II encouraged the Church with the words, “Do not be afraid.” The Resurrection gives us the courage to live these words every day. Even Psalm 17 echoes this confidence: “I call upon you, for you will answer me, O God.” Today, let us ask ourselves: Is my faith merely a tradition, or is it a living relationship with the risen Lord? Am I willing to serve Christ quietly without seeking appreciation? Let us carry the hope of the Resurrection into our homes, workplaces, and communities. The risen Jesus still walks with us, and through our simple acts of love, He continues to proclaim His Kingdom to the world.
